We provide family support to all families who have a loved one diagnosed with dementia and ensure they are supported from the onset of symptoms to the final stages. Our vision is to ensure dementia friendly communities exist in all communities in Mpumalanga, that stigma is reduced and all health care workers are trained to care for people living with dementia. We have 2 support groups: Nelspruit and White River.

Satellite Offices

We have 3 satellite offices across the region providing community awareness, family support and training to homebased care providers and health care workers.

Family Support

We provide a range of family support including family direct family sessions, telephonic / email support as well as running support groups at various old age homes in the Mbombela area. We also started a dementia friendly support group for people living with dementia and their caregivers. This has been highly successful as a wonderful opportunity to socialise and have fun in a setting that is dementia friendly.

Training

We have trained many health care workers in various settings from home-based care settings, old age homes and hospital settings. Our 2-day course has been extremely popular as it is practical, engaging and very informative. It is adapted to suit the health care setting so that it becomes relevant and any difficulties can be addressed.  Recently online training is the preferred method of delivery and this is easily arranged.

Please contact us to discuss a tailor-made training packages.

Community Awareness

All our services aim to provide information, knowledge and create better understanding about dementia. We partner with the Department of Social Development to create awareness at community events and road shows. This reduces stigma and misinformation as well as promoting dementia friendly communities.
